How much does a charter bus rental cost?
Charter bus rentals typically range from about $900 to $1,200 per day, though the exact price depends on the size of the vehicle, the length of the rental, the distance traveled, and your pickup location. Larger or more luxurious coaches generally cost more than a mini bus or sprinter van.
Because every trip is different, American Charterlines provides a specific, itemized quote once you share your trip details rather than a flat rate.
How do I get a quote or book a charter?
Request a free quote directly through americancharterlines.com or by calling 1-800-841-5039. Have your date, pickup and drop-off locations, group size, and trip type ready so the team can match you with the right vehicle and give you an accurate price.
How far in advance should I book a charter bus?
As a general rule of thumb, booking several weeks ahead gives you the best selection of vehicles and pricing, and it's worth booking even earlier during peak seasons — such as spring wedding and prom season or major holidays — when availability tightens up fastest. That said, American Charterlines can often accommodate shorter-notice requests, so it's worth calling even if your date is close.
Is gratuity included in the price?
Gratuity for your driver is not included in the base quote unless you specifically add it during the booking process. If you have questions about how to include or adjust gratuity, mention it when you request your quote.
Fleet & Capacity
What types of vehicles does American Charterlines offer?
American Charterlines is a one-stop provider for coach buses, mini buses, school buses, and sprinter vans, so groups of nearly any size can be matched to the right vehicle for the trip.
How many passengers can each vehicle hold?
Capacity varies by vehicle type: sprinter vans generally suit the smallest groups, mini buses fit mid-size groups, and full-size coach buses handle the largest groups. Since exact seating configurations can vary by vehicle, share your headcount when you request a quote and the team will recommend the right fit.
What amenities are available on board?
Depending on the vehicle, amenities can include reclining seats, climate control, Wi-Fi, and onboard entertainment systems — features that have been used for everything from wedding shuttles to long-distance sleeper coach trips for traveling teams and touring crews.
Do you offer overnight or multi-day charters?
Yes. Sleeper coach buses are available for longer trips, such as cross-country team travel or multi-city tours. Overnight and multi-day charters do involve driver room accommodations — see the "Policies & What's Included" section below for details.
Policies & What's Included
What's included in my quote?
Your quote includes the final approved itinerary for the bus and driver, insurance, tolls, and fuel for the vehicle.
What's not included in my quote?
Quotes do not include:
- Gratuity for your driver, unless it's added during booking
- Parking fees and permits, where applicable
- Driver room accommodations for overnight charters or charters that run over the standard hours
If your charter requires two drivers with overnight accommodations, you're responsible for providing a separate room for each driver.
What if my trip needs more than one driver?
Longer trips, overnight charters, or charters that exceed standard hours-of-service limits may require two drivers. In that case, you're responsible for providing separate room accommodations for each driver — this is worth confirming up front when you book so there are no surprises on travel day.
Events & Use Cases
What kinds of events and trips do you handle?
American Charterlines has arranged transportation for a wide range of groups, including:
- Wedding shuttles between hotels, ceremony, and reception venues
- Sports teams traveling to cross-country tournaments
- Corporate groups needing airport transfers or executive travel
- Touring musicians and crews needing customized bus and equipment logistics
Whatever the occasion, the team works with you to match the vehicle and itinerary to your event.
Where does American Charterlines operate?
American Charterlines is based in New York City and arranges charters throughout the New York and New Jersey area, as well as nationwide trips for groups traveling across the country.
Safety & Logistics
Is my charter insured?
Insurance is included as part of your approved quote. If you'd like documentation of coverage or carrier details ahead of your trip, ask your booking representative when you finalize your reservation.
What should I have ready when I request a quote?
To get the most accurate price and vehicle match, have the following ready: your travel date(s), pickup and drop-off addresses, total passenger count, and the general nature of the trip (wedding, corporate, sports, tour, or other group travel). The more detail you provide up front, the more precise your quote will be.
